The Coalition Against Malaria in Ethiopia (CAME) is part of Malaria Consortium's Mobilising for Malaria (M4M) programme which is supported by GlaxoSmithKline's African Malaria Partnership and other donor organizations.
Mobilising for Malaria is an advocacy programme which aims to raise awareness of malaria in Europe and throughout Africa to bring greater resources to bear against the disease. This programme recognises the unique role and urgently needed contribution of civil society in the global malaria advocacy movement. It seeks to encourage and promote partnership working and collaboration between all civil society actors not only in their own countries but through North-South joint initiatives in order to increase public and political awareness and support for an effective and sustained response to Malaria at global, national and local levels.
The Launch of CAME was synchronised with Africa Malaria Day celebrations at the ECA Conference Centre in Addis Abba on 25th April 2006.
There are currently 50 members of CAME, representing the Federal Ministry of Health (FMOH), NGOs, CSOs, Faith-Based Organizations (FBOs), Private Organizations (POs), media, Associations of People Living with HIV/AIDS and other relevant government institutions.
CAME is supported by the major RBM partners (FMOH, WHO, UNICEF, USAID, Irish Aid, etc.) and the Malaria Control Support Team at the Department of Family Health for the Federal Ministry of Health (FMOH).
